2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD vs. 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

2016 Tacoma vs 2015 Colorado

If you’re looking for a reliable midsize pickup to carry you from the concrete jungle of the city to the rugged terrain of the mountains, you have a few options. The two giants of the midsize pickup category are the Toyota Tacoma and the Chevy Colorado. While both are great contenders, in the end you just can’t beat the 2016 Tacoma.

Tacoma Engine

The 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD 4×4 embodies a tradition of off-road excellence and on-road comfort without sacrificing one for the other. The Tacoma comes with two engine options: a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine or the new 3.5-liter V6. The V6 is different from years past, fitted with an Atkinson power cycle, which has many similarities to hybrid engines. The Atkinson power cycle gives the Toyota Tacoma better fuel economy, and who doesn’t love that?

A 6.1-inch touchscreen comes standard on the 2016 Tacoma, and the TRD comes with an even larger 7-inch screen with navigation. Toyota’s Entune is incredibly simple and responsive. Entune quickly recognizes your smartphone through the USB connection which makes it incredible easy to navigate your music and podcasts. Bluetooth and USB connectivity are also available. It’s easy to use and the sound quality is great.

When it comes to available technology, the Colorado is a tough competitor. However, the Chevy Colorado boasts a lower ground clearance. This lower clearance helps in terms of fuel economy, but it hinders the Colorado’s off-road capability. The Toyota Tacoma TRD off-road capability is at the top of its class, thus putting it ahead of the Colorado in this two horse race.

While the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado is stiff competition in the midsize truck category, in the end, it just can’t hold a candle to the 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD. Still don’t believe us? Then come visit us at Limbaugh Toyota and see for yourself!
