Mark your calendars and save room for dessert. Friday, August 11th through Sunday, August 20th is Alabama Restaurant Week! This culinary festival features various restaurants throughout the state in a week-long celebration of Alabama cuisine. Be sure to take part in this spectacular event! Your taste buds will definitely thank you.

Alabama Restaurant Week

Restaurant week diners can choose from any of the participating establishments, which offer planned prix fixe meals. Dinner during Restaurant Week will consist of three courses, including a starter, main course, and dessert. Two-course lunches are also available throughout the week. Fixed dinner pricing starts at $10 and goes up to $40. There are no tickets to purchase. Simply let your server know you wish to have the Alabama Restaurant Week meal, and you’re good to go!

The lineup of this year’s restaurants includes some of the best spots in town, making this a perfect time to try something new.

Bottega Dining Room

Housed in a vintage building on the south side of Birmingham, Bottega Dining Room serves up fresh regional food inspired by the provinces of Italy. For Restaurant Week, Bottega offers your choice of summer minestrone, pesto, parmigiana, or calamari fritter for your starter. The main course options consist of grilled trout topped with capers and brown butter, or rigatoni Bolognese. For dessert, you’ll dine on cherry semifreddo and pistachios on a graham cracker crust. The fixed price for this three-course meal is $40.

Cocina Superior

Located in Brookwood Village, Cocina Superior specializes in modern Tex-Mex food. The menu melds Mexican classic dishes with America flair. This stylish establishment is known for serving up innovative versions of your favorite Tex-Mex dishes in a vibrant atmosphere. This year, Cocina Superior will serve a three-course dinner at a price of $30. You can also stop by during lunch for a two-course meal priced at $15.

Highlands Bar and Grill

Highlands Bar and Grill is the brainchild of James Beard Award winner Frank Stitt. This restaurant has served local Southern favorites with a French twist for nearly 30 years, making this establishment a local culinary landmark. The prix fixe menu for Restaurant Week features your choice of chilled corn soup with roasted peppers or lettuce, radish, and local beet salad for the starter. Entre options include roasted chicken breast with truffle butter and summer veggies, and grilled gulf shrimp and scallop brochette. For dessert, you can choose a creamy raspberry and vanilla panna cotta or a sweet and salty cake. All this at the Highlands Bar and Grill for a fixed price of $40.
