Who’s Taking the Stage at Saturn Birmingham This August?

Saturn Birmingham is one of the coolest venues in the Southeast. Luckily for locals, it calls Birmingham home. Nerds, hipsters, and various other people from all walks of life fit in just right at the Saturn. Therefore, this is the perfect place to relax and take in some live music. Visitors have a lot to look forward this August as a wealth of talented acts are scheduled to play this retro at venue. Here are few of the amazing artists you’ll find on stage at the Saturn this month.

India Ramey

Nashville based singer-song writer India Ramey makes her stop at Saturn in Birmingham on August 5th in support of her latest album release, “Snake Handler.” This former district attorney’s childhood in the South bleeds through her powerful vocal and musical stylings with a southern gothic effect. Will Stewart and Rayvon Pettis are the opening acts for this show. You can purchase tickets here. Doors open at 8 p.m., with the show scheduled for a 9 p.m. start.

Alejandro Escovedo

Singer-songwriter Alejandro Escovedo is a legend of the Austin, Texas, music scene. Escovedo visits Saturn Birmingham on Friday, August 11th. His latest solo release, “Burn Something Beautiful,” saw him collaborate with Peter Buck of R.E.M fame and Scott McCaughey of The Minus 5. This Mexican-American trailblazer has seen a career that spans multiple genres, including punk rock and alternative country. He has been a member of numerous acclaimed groups, from The Nuns to the Texas-born band True Believers.

Will Kimbrough is set to hold down the opening spot for this performance, so you definitely don’t want to be late. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.

Betty Who

Australian-born singer-songwriter Betty Who is scheduled to play the Saturn Birmingham on August 22nd. Now based in the U.S., Who has achieved huge commercial success internationally and in the states with singles “Human Touch” and “Somebody Loves You,” among others, racking up millions of Spotify streams and YouTube views, and making a mark on Billboard’s Dance Music charts.

You may have seen Who on numerous night show television appearances or on tour with pop superstars Kylie Minogue and Katy Perry. Her shows are infused with energy and feature her mix of dance-inspired songs. Advance tickets are available online. Doors open at 7 p.m. Geographer opens the show at at 8 p.m.

Iron & Wine

Samuel Ervin Beam, known on stage as Iron & Wine, is an American singer-songwriter. Beam has released five studio albums, his most recent being “Beast Epic.” Often compared to Neil Simon, Art Garfunkel, and Neil Young, Beam’s work has been featured in mainstream media from television to feature film. In fact, “Flightless Bird, American Mouth” was on the soundtrack for the commercial hit motion picture “Twilight”!

The show is scheduled for August 29th, with doors set for 7 p.m. Lydia Loveless hits the stage with an opening performance at 8 p.m. Tickets for the show are currently sold out but can be found online through the Saturn’s ticket exchange.
