Toyota recently announced that they will be recalling 847,000 vehicles ranging from the 2012 and 2013 Avalon, Avalon Hybrid, Camry, Camry Hybrid, and Venza models. The problem, as they described, is caused by a water leakage that may lead to a potential short circuit. When this happens, it may automatically switch on airbag warnings and may even disable them. In cases of an accident, drivers won’t be protected by the airbags anymore as they won’t be deployed.
Another potential danger that may result from this Toyota recall brought about by short circuiting the system is the deployment of accidental automatic; even without the event of one. The power-steering system may also cause a problem if it gets affected by the short circuit.
As of this writing, Toyota has reported two people sustaining minor injuries brought about by the faulty airbag. However, no accidents have been reported.
