Get Spooked At Sloss Fright Furnace

Sloss Fright Furnace

Every year in late September or early October, the spookiest of Birmingham’s haunts – Sloss Furnace – opens its doors for some bone-chilling fun. The historical site transforms overnight into Sloss Fright Furnace, daring those who are brave enough to enter and make their way through its deep, dark recesses. A scream-filled tour of the furnace promises the best kind of Halloween thrills and chills, which is why Sloss Fright Furnace has such a loyal following.

Sloss Furnace Is a Scream at Halloween

The haunted Sloss tour begins with a journey through a replica of Wormwood House, the childhood home of sadistic foreman Slag Wormwood. From there, you’ll enter locations usually closed to the public including the Boiler Room, which is reputedly the site of many ghost sightings. Take the trail – if you dare – along narrow passages, through pitch-black tunnels, and over the furnace catwalk, encountering a frightful array of monsters, chainsaw-wielding madmen, and terrifying sights as you go.

When (and if) you make it out, you’ll owe yourself a good pat on the back for having the guts to face fear head-on.

Other Frightfully Fun Attractions

The haunted tour may be the highlight of the event, but it isn’t the only reason to visit Sloss Fright Furnace. Here are other terrors to tackle:

  • Outbreak 2: This experience challenges visitors to “escape the zombies or become one,” and takes you through a zombie-infested forest and down a 300-foot slide into darkness on your path to safety – or not.
  • Marathon of Horror: View classic horror flicks on a giant 25-foot screen. But stay on guard; monsters sometimes make a cameo in the audience.
  • Stages of Death: Experience some of the most unique entertainment you’ve ever seen. The constantly changing lineup might include fire-eaters, live bands, or danger acts – so prepare for anything.
  • Roadkill Cafe: After you buy your tickets, calm your nerves in the cafe until your group is called. Serving hotdogs, hamburgers, pretzels, beverages, and more.

Sloss Fright Furnace is open starting at sundown each night through Halloween, October 31. Order tickets online or at the gate. Group rates are available for groups of 13 or more.
