How To Operate Your 2015 Toyota Camry’s Adaptive Cruise Control

One of the newest technically advanced features of the new 2015 Toyota Camry is the adaptive cruise control system which supplements conventional cruise control with an active vehicle to vehicle distance control feature designed for use on freeways and express ways. Don’t you hate it when you’re cruising down the highway, and someone pulls right in front of you or slams on their brakes causing you to adjust your speed? This is something that a lot of Birmingham drivers can relate to. Whether you’re driving on I-20 or highway 280, chances are you’ve run into your fair share of the uneven flow of traffic when you’re using cruise mode.

With Toyota’s available Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, drivers can drive easier with less to do and a whole lot less to worry about. The adaptive cruise control system isn’t magic. It automatically adjusts the Camry’s speed to maintain a safe following distance by using forward-sending radar technology. Monitoring speed and distance of the vehicle ahead, the Camry adjusts appropriately.

Now that you know how Dynamic Radar Cruise Control works, it’s time to learn how to operate it.

  • To activate, press the “ON/OFF” button at the end of the stalk on the lower end of the right side of the steering wheel.
  • The radar-ready indicator will appear in the Multi Information Display on the instrument panel.
  • Accelerate or decelerate to your preferred speed.
  • Press the stalk down to set the speed.
  • To go faster or slower, push the stalk up or down accordingly and hold until you’ve reached the desired speed. Then release it.
  • To cancel cruise control, either tap the brakes, pull the stalk toward you, or press the “ON/OFF” button.
  • To change the preset distance between vehicles, use the radar range button on the lower right side of the steering wheel. Press the button repeatedly to cycle through the available ranges displayed on the Multi Information Display.

It’s that easy!
