Those looking to drive a Toyota 4Runner have plenty of options to choose from. There are four trims in total: the SR5, Trail, Limited, and TRD Pro, letting you pick a model based on the features you want and need as well as your budget. The TRD Pro trim is specifically designed for off-roading, although it is good for everyday driving as well. Here are the key facts for comparing the other three trims.
Exterior
Every single Toyota 4Runner comes standard with projector-beam headlights and LED taillights, both with a smoked trim. There are also integrated fog lights, a deicer on the wipers, rear privacy glass, and skid plates on all models. The biggest differences are in terms of the wheels and color scheme. The majority of the SR5’s exterior is color-keyed, but the roof rails are silver featuring silver endcaps. The same is true of the Trail, but the roof rails have black endcaps instead. The Limited trim features chrome on the front grille accent, door handles, license plate garnish in the rear, and roof rails, the last of which feature silver endcaps. The wheels in the SR5 are 17-inch 6-spoke ones made from alloy, while the Trail has 17-inch 7-spoke ones made from alloy and the Limited has 20-inch split 6-spoke wheels made from alloy.
Interior
While the SR5 and Trail feature typical air conditioning as well as vents in the second row of seats, the Limited has dual-zone automatic climate control. There are also slightly different entertainment systems with both the SR5 and Trail offering standard Entune Audio Plus with the option to upgrade to Entune Premium Audio with Navigation. The Limited, however, comes with Entune Premium JBL Audio that includes both the App Suite and Navigation. The upholstery is fabric on the SR5 and Trail and perforated leather (with optional leather) on the Limited. All models, however, feature cruise control, audio and Bluetooth controls on the leather-trimmed steering wheel (tilt and telescoping), and power accessories as well as a backup camera.
Performance
The 2015 4Runner SR5, Trail, and Limited all run on a 4-liter V6 engine that generates 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque. They also feature a 5-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the SR5 and Limited with part-time four-wheel drive standard on the Trail.
