On a warm summer evening this June, the Birmingham Zoo will open its gates for the fifth annual Zoo, Brews, & Full Moon Bar-B-Que! Mark your calendars for this night of tasty Southern cooking, fine local brews, and exciting environs.
WHEN AND WHERE
The event will be held at the Birmingham Zoo on Saturday, June 22. It will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. the zoo is located at 2630 Cahaba Road, Birmingham, Alabama 35223. Tickets are available HERE. The event is open to all ages, while you must be 21 or older to imbibe, of course. Tickets for adults are $35, and designated drivers get in for $20. If you opt for the VIP experience, you’ll get 10 drink tokens, dinner, a commemorative mug, special parking, early admission, and more.
ZOO, BREW, AND BBQ
The Birmingham Zoo will welcome guests for an evening of delicious dining by Full Moon Bar-B-Que, finely crafted regional brews, and a variety of fun activities for the whole family. There will be exciting animal greetings, lawn games, and music courtesy of a DJ. A Talladega Superspeedway pace car will also be on display for an up-close look. If you’re visiting as the designated driver, don’t worry. There will be plenty of soft refreshments to accompany some savory BBQ.
ABUNDANCE OF BREWERIES
Alabama’s craft breweries will be well represented, with Birmingham’s Avondale, Good People, Birmingham District, Ghost Train, and Cahaba in attendance. Interstellar will bring their ginger beers from just a few miles south of town, and Fairhope Brewing will represent the Gulf Coast. Yellowhammer, Blue Pants, Straight to Ale, and Rocket Republic will be our Huntsville/Madison connection. Tallulah Brewing will visit from Jasper, and Folklore will bring brews and mead from Dothan. Cross-Eyed Owl hales from Decatur, and if you’re in the mood for regional vino, Cat-n-Bird Winery will bring their offerings from Chelsea. There will also be more purveyors from around the Southeast.
