Calling all dog lovers: There’s a new race in town that you’re going to want to be a part of. The Running for the Bulls 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run is scheduled for Saturday, March 30, at Red Mountain Park, and proceeds from this dog-friendly event benefit Bama Bully Rescue.
About the Race
Kicking off at 9 a.m. on race day, the 5K and Fun Run take place along the beautifully maintained trails of Red Mountain Park, located at 2011 Frankfurt Drive, Birmingham, AL 35211. Online registration (which closes soon, so register now!) is $35 for the 5K, $25 for the 1-Mile Fun Run. It’s $10 for your dog to run with you, and Fido gets a cool Birmingham Bully Rescue bandanna, too.
If you happen to miss the boat, no worries – you can register on-site starting at 7:30 a.m. on race day. The cost is $40 for the 5K, $30 for the 1-Mile Fun Run, and $10 for your furry running or walking companion.
In order to keep everyone happy and safe, there are some rules for participating dogs. There is a limit of one dog per racer, and the dog must be at least 6 months old. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome with proof of current rabies vaccination. Of course, you’re responsible for cleaning up after your pup. And if you choose not to bring your own four-legged pal, there will be lots of them working the pre- and post-race crowd for treats or belly rubs.
About the Rescue
Birmingham Bully Rescue is dedicated to educating the public about bully breeds, promoting spaying and neutering, and decreasing the number of these animals that are surrendered by their families. BBR removes bully breed dogs from Alabama shelters and places them in loving foster homes to prepare for happy lives with new adoptive families. Your participation in the Running for the Bulls 5K helps raise money to support BBR’s ongoing efforts.
