When the 6th Annual CACAO Caribbean Festival rolls around on June 10th, are you going to be ready? It’s going to be a day full of Caribbean food, costumes, and dancing, and local vendors will be onsite. If you don’t prepare ahead of time, how will you know what food to eat? You won’t know if you’re a jerk chicken type of person or if you prefer the oxtail. Do a little research at some local Caribbean restaurants before the festival. Then, you can walk into the festival with confidence and eat all your favorite Caribbean dishes!
Yehman Caribbean Restaurant
If you want homestyle Caribbean food, look no further than Yehman Caribbean Restaurant. For starters, this restaurant knocks it out of the park when it comes to the jerk chicken. It tastes just like the jerk chicken you would get if you were in the Caribbean! It has the perfect amount of spices, and the peas, rice, and vegetables that go with it are also delicious. Then there are the beef patties. If these dishes could be described in one word, “wow” would definitely be fitting. They are unbelievably delicious! Try them both. You won’t be disappointed. When you leave this restaurant, you will understand why people love Caribbean food.
Southern Caribbean Restaurant
Do you love oxtail? If so, Southern Caribbean Restaurant is the place to go. Its oxtail puts the oxtail at the other restaurants to shame. They are incredibly tender – so much so that the meat falls off the bone. The jerk at this restaurant chicken is also incredible. It’s moist, which adds to the flavor. You will get enough to share at this restaurant, but you might want to tell your friends to keep their hands off. It is so good that you won’t want to give any of it up! Get a to-go box and take some home instead.
Jake’s Soulfood Café
Jake’s Soulfood Café has a great assortment of options, but the curry chicken stands out among the rest. Their curry is smooth and isn’t overly spicy, so it goes down nicely. The chicken is incredibly juicy and falls right off the bone, making it a real treat. You also need to try their yam casserole. To put it simply, it might be the best yam casserole you’ve ever tasted. It tastes like grandma is back there whipping up something good!
Now, you’re ready to prepare yourself for the CACAO Caribbean Festival. Actually, you’re almost ready. You have one more thing to do before you run to the various restaurants. Visit Limbaugh Toyota in Birmingham, Alabama to pick up a new vehicle to take to the restaurants and the festival. Best of all, your new vehicle will still be up and running long after the festival is over. Therefore, you can visit these restaurants at any time!
