Breathe the brisk mountain air this Saturday at the Restoration Run 5K and 15K! On the morning of March 16, avid runners and weekend warriors alike will gather at the beautiful Red Mountain Park for a scenic trail run. The race is intended to raise awareness of rising addiction issues in our community, and proceeds from the event will aid people as they turn their lives around.
WHEN AND WHERE
Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. on March 16 at the trailhead off Red Mountain Park Lakeshore Parkway. The race begins at 8 a.m., and award ceremonies will follow starting at 9:30 a.m. Both the 5K and the 15K will lead runners through the gorgeous natural environment of Red Mountain, and you may even see a relic of the site’s old mining days. The 15K will wind its way to the other side of the mountain, where runners will be rewarded with picturesque views of Birmingham in the distance.
THE WILL BRIGHT FOUNDATION
Proceeds from the race will benefit the Will Bright Foundation, a nonprofit that supports people as the overcome the troubles of drug addiction. The foundation gives hope to many through sponsoring them as they go through treatment, and work to ensure a safe life at home when the treatment is over.
