Summer is drawing to a close, and Avondale Brewery has the perfect musical lineup to close the season with a bang. Nestled in the historic hipster enclave of Avondale, this popular spot serves as an ideal location to enjoy some live music over a cold, locally brewed ale.
Avondale Brewery
Once inside the Avondale Brewery, you’ll notice a strong commitment to the past, present, and future of the neighborhood. The respect for this eclectic community is made evident by the brewery’s logo that features historic neighborhood legend Miss Fancy, an elephant that roamed the streets of Avondale around in the early 1900s. In addition to offering a wide selection of house-brewed beer, Avondale plays host to some serious musical talent. Rounding out the summer concert series this year are two acts you definitely won’t want to miss.
Shakey Graves
Be sure to catch Austin, TX, based musician Alejandro Rose-Garcia, better known as Shakey Graves, who is set to play the Avondale Brewery on Thursday, August 17. This singer-songwriter is known for his sooty blend of Americana, soulful folk, and rock. His latest album “Nobody’s Fool” was released in 2015 and is a bit of a softer, contemplative departure from his previously released works. You may have seen the singer at various major music festivals or on the late night show circuit playing such hits as “Dearly Departed” and “Family and Genus.”
Doors open at 7 p.m. with opening act David Ramirez. Shakey Graves is set to hit the stage at 8 p.m., but you’ll want to arrive as early as possible to grab a good spot since Avondale Brewery seating is general admission only. Tickets are currently available for advance purchase online or at the door on the day of the show.
Corey Smith
Country singer-songwriter, Corey Smith will bring his Great Wide Underground tour to the Avondale Brewery on Saturday, August 19. Hailing from Jefferson, Georgia, this former high school teacher has defied the odds in a genre where success seems dependent on major label backing. Smith’s 2015 album release “While the Gettin’ Is Good” marked the first time he had the help of a major Nashville record label. Prior to this record, which saw him team up with Zac Brown producer Keith Stegall, all of Smith’s 1.5 million digital single sales were earned independently.
Opener Jacob Powell is set to take the stage at 7 p.m. followed by Smith’s performance, which is slated for an 8 p.m. start. Discounted presale tickets are currently available online or for full price at the door the day of the concert.
The only thing that can top an end of summer concert at Avondale Brewery is a brand new Toyota from Limbaugh Toyota in Birmingham, Alabama. Stop by to view our inventory, and drive off in a new 2018 Toyota today!
