Take A Walk Through Birmingham’s Railroad Park

Railroad Park

There’s a wonderful sanctuary in the middle of Birmingham called Railroad Park. Here, you can enjoy over 19 acres of beautiful trees and landscaping, a lake and wetlands, and plenty of grassy areas for play. In addition, you’ll find play structures, walking and jogging paths, and much more. If you haven’t been there, it’s time to visit and take a walk through Birmingham’s Railroad Park.

A Natural Haven

Railroad Park offers natural beauty and is so much more than a grassy lawn. In fact, you’ll find over 600 trees inside Railroad Park, including the elegant Princeton Elm. In addition, a carefully tended lake covers much of the park acreage. You’ll also see a rain curtain, various pools and streams, and a bio-filtrated wetlands area. And on top of that, stunning landscaping offers lots of visual delight. All of the landscaping and water features combine to create a true oasis in the center of downtown Birmingham even on the hottest days.

Get Active in the Park

You can stroll across the grass or take the path that loops through the park. If you’re trying to get your steps or miles in, it’s helpful to know that the outer loop is shy of 3/4 of a mile long. Railroad Park delivers great scenery and interesting visual points while you get your workout in. But if runs and power walks aren’t your thing, take your time and wander through the trees, streams, and pools.

Play Time for All

Many families enjoy Railroad Park, and there’s room for everyone. Two play areas give kids the chance to work out some energy by sliding, swinging, and jumping. But adults can come to play at the park, too. Grassy areas are perfect for games of frisbee, tag, or whatever seems fun. Finally, some of the structures you’ll see aren’t just for kids. Adults can take advantage of the outdoor gym equipment and build some muscle.
