Huntsville engine plant to receive $150 million expansion

Toyota announced this week that they are investing an additional $150 million into their engine manufacturing plant in Huntsville. This investment will increase the machining capacity and parts production for the plants V-6 engine line. Currently the Huntsville plant produces 4 cylinder engines for the Camry, RAV4, Venza, Sienna and Highlander and the V6 and V8 engines for the Tacoma, Tundra and Sequoia. So if you buy a model with one of those engines from Limbaugh Toyota, you’ll be powered by genuine Alabama made parts.

Toyota currently is responsible for 1,150 jobs in Alabama and if you count dealers (like Limbaugh) and suppliers Toyota is responsible for 3,723 jobs in our state. Most of their direct employment works in the Huntsville engine manufacturing plant which opened in 2003. Toyota’s total investment in that plant will total $850,000,000 once the line expansion is completed in 2015. With this planned expansion, total engine capacity will increase to 750,000 engines built every year in Alabama. In fact, our Alabama plant is the only Toyota plant in the world that produces three different engines under one roof.

Limbaugh Toyota is proud to be part of Toyota’s growing footprint in Alabama. If you’d like to test drive one of those high quality, Alabama made engines, come visit us today.
